If you constantly need to pop your back to get relief of tightness and stiffness, here’s something you should try. While “popping” does feel great and I don’t think there’s anything inherently (likely) wrong with it, I do anecdotally find very commonly that those that are in pain or experience more tightness do pop more often than others. And when I feel more stiff than usual, I definitely pop more. When I feel good, it’s nowhere near as easy. That is likely representing that the fluids in the joints aren’t moving as…well…fluidly as they should. Therefore, there are also probably some issues with the relative rotational motions of bones and joints in the segments of the back or that area. Improving those can improve the fluid shifting within them, thereby reducing the need to pop for relief. #backpain #lowbackpain #backpainrelief #backpainfix #lowbackpainrelief #lowbackpainexercises

The QL muscle is a muscle in the sides of the lower back that attaches to the pelvis, sides of your lumbar spine, and your last rib. It helps to side bend and extend the spine. People can get a lot of tightness here and will often stretch and massage it, but it is also important to strengthen it. Strengthening a tight muscle can actually make it not feel tight anymore! The first exercise is a gentle stretch for the lower back. It will obviously work the hips as well, but will stretch the QL a little bit. The other 3 exercises are strength-focused. So simple, yet so effective. The purpose of the pillow is to make it so that way your back is in an elongated position, but also when you inhale the expansion is being forced into your back and not as much into the front part of your body. Most people already breathe too much into their lower ribs and upper stomach, and not enough into their back ribcage, where a lot of the expansion should occur. So by kneeling flexing in this position and adding a pillow, it biases a lot of back expansion and decompression. The key is to breathe slowly and stay super relaxed throughout your whole body. Gentle (silent), but full inhale through the nose. Feel ZERO neck tension as you inhale. As you exhale, “sigh” the air out. This will help you further melt into the pillow and relax, but also ensure you decompress enough to allow for optimal subsequent expansion on the inhale.
