countdown to my first chemo 💕 Sharing a glimpse into the moments leading up to my first of 16 chemotherapy treatments for breast cancer. These were the quiet, in-between days—where life still looked mostly normal on the outside, but knowing things were about to shift for us all. I spent this time soaking in the presence of my people and finding so much strength in their love. During the days leading up, and the morning of, I experienced something I can only describe as supernatural peace—a calm that didn’t make sense in the moment, but I knew it was from the Lord. It wasn’t the absence of hard emotions, but the presence of God in the middle of them. That peace reminded me that He goes before me, walks beside me, and holds every outcome in His hands. He’s been faithful to us every step of the journey and we know He won’t fail now 🙌🏻 Thank you to everyone who continues to pray for us in this journey. I wanted to share a tender life update with y’all — I have breast cancer. On our daughter’s first birthday —March 5, 2025, we received the dreaded call that the lump I found during a self exam a week prior was confirmed: invasive ductal carcinoma. It felt like our world stopped spinning in that moment and the days that followed, then we shifted into action mode. We began a series of appointments, meeting with specialists and learning more about the specific features of my cancer — (stage 1, estrogen positive, Her2 negative) As overwhelming as it all was, having a treatment plan in place gave us something solid to hold onto. We knew what we were up against, and more importantly, how we were going to BEAT IT 💪🏼 On April 2, I underwent a successful bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction using tissue expanders (temporary implants) Final pathology came back with clear margins and zero lymph node involvement 🙌🏼 however, the grade of the tumor was at a higher risk for reoccurrence, so chemotherapy is the recommended treatment plan to prevent that from happening. Today, I begin 16 rounds of aggressive chemotherapy called AC-T chemo. It’s not the plan we had hoped for, but a powerful next step in my complete and total healing 🙏🏻 This chapter is still being written, but I’m walking into it with a heart full of courage, faith in my mighty God, and a whole lot to fight for! I am 1 in 8 — a number I never thought would include me, but cancer will not be writing my story’s ending!
