There are only three possible explanations for your husband’s behavior. I wrote a whole book on the nuances of when to stay or leave and this is one that can be very clearcut.
Early clinicians took these observations and made the erroneous conclusion that BPD is a mild form of psychosis or is some sort of pre-psychosis, snd we know today that isnt true. BPD is its own distinct condition, but the observations about individuals with BPD sometimes experiencing a break from reality is still true. Many clinicians today believe BPD is a form of CPTSD. BPD is often described as the most painful psychiatric condition. Its a form of complex PTSD that alters the way your brain interacts not only with your emotions but oftentimes with reality itself.
How often it happens isnt the only important bit. None of these categories tell you whether she is doing it because she’s struggling or has trauma or if she’s just a horrible person. In the end, *why* she does it isn’t the only or even most important factor.
Replying to @Hailey 🍉 please don’t armchair diagnose the woman in question in the comments. Leave her alone. I just want to use the situation as a good example to answer this question.
Replying to @🌞🌞🌞 I’m not saying that every instance of infidelity is nuanced. Your personal situation may have been black-and-white. I’m saying at a high level, as a therapist, it is a nuanced topic.
I get what they’re trying to say but some of these “horrible” before pictures are literally just women postpartum with no makeup on, or looking like any woman might when they are comfortable enough to not look perfect 24/7. I dont think the trend is wrong or anything its just that taken all together it feels weirdly like a woman’s sparkle always equates to being more conventionally attractive.
Replying to @meonz this is exactly what I’m talking about. I agree that reclaiming life again after a horrible relationship affects the way you take care of yourself, but the amount of fatphobia and propaganda the beauty industry uses to convince you that being thin and conventionally attractive is a marker of being healed is pervasive.
