Stop buying tortoises until you watch this video! Stop buying sulcata tortoises unless you know this truth! The truth is they are very expensive and they need thousands of square feet to roam freely. More importantly, stop buying tiny tortoises from pet stores and stop buying them from breeders and only adopt from non-profit rescue organizations like the Humane Society. I’m sick of hearing about the re-homing of these beautiful sulcata tortoises once they get over 100 pounds and people no longer have the space or money to care for them! People love to buy them when they are tiny but they grow fast and they will eat you out of your house and home if you are not prepared! Plus, dogs and tortoises should never be left alone together!
