The last time… ❤️‍🩹 I have been dreading this day since the very first moment ripley nursed. Breastfeeding is so much more than just feeding your child. It’s a bond between you and your child that is indescribable. It brings calmness when things feel chaotic. It taught me how to slow down and enjoy simple moments. It’s a connection that made us both feel so safe. The countless times we both got to hold each other and stare into each others eyes, I’ll never take for granted. It is the one thing that felt as close to having him in my belly… A feeling I miss quite often. Another first coming to an end. I will forever miss the countless night wakings when it was just us two and the rest of the world was quiet. The things I had to skip out on because I couldn’t leave you for more than a few hours. Having a husband who truly found it to be the coolest thing ever. Being able to escape away for a little to have you all to myself again. Every single mornings. Every single night. Multiple times during the day. In the car, on airplanes, in restaurants, on walks, in a grocery store… all the places I had the honor of feeding you. Who would have thought one of the most challenging things I’ve had to learn would be so difficult to say goodbye to. I hope I get to experience this journey again with my future babies… but I’m not sure anything will be able to compare to the time I got to experience it with my first baby.
