Bro's Misinformation Tier List is starting to get pretty full. Kennedy is wrong here in three ways: 1) If the flu shot was causing "pathogenic priming", it would make people get MORE SEVERE cases of influenza. Instead, reams of clinical data show that getting the flu shot DECREASES your risk of flu-related hospitalization, ICU admission, or death ... as you would expect. 2) Even if the flu shot did cause pathogenic priming (which is actually called antibody-dependent enhancement in the scientific literature, by the way, which tells you that Kennedy's opinions are informed by spheres of misinformation, not scientific papers), that would only affect future flu severity, not other viruses. 3) Clinical data from the exact paper that Kennedy cites contradict his point. He said that getting a flu shot damages your immune system, which increases risk for other infections, but the paper that he cited showed no risk in overall risk for other respiratory viruses. In fact, the author of that study published a follow-up Letter to the Editor after Kennedy's statements started to circulate online, to say that his study DID NOT support the idea that flu shots increase for other infectinos, nor did it support skipping seasonal flu vaccines. Some people have suggested that Trump simply confused the word “transgender” with “transgenic,” but as I highlight in this video, it’s not that simple. There certainly is research involving the administration of sex hormones to rodents—for a variety of reasons, including better understanding transgender regimens. But also, as Dr. Silveyra describes, some of Trump’s largest cited studies examine sex hormone’s effects on conditions like asthma. Others investigate how sex hormones impact physiology more broadly, including in ways that help us understand transgender healthcare. So, while it’s not accurate to say the millions of dollars that he cited were all spent just to “make mice transgender,” it is technically true that some research involves giving sex hormones to rodents for various reasons. The knowledge gained often has broader implications, improving our understanding of hormones in both cisgender and transgender individuals alike. #science #drnoc
