Even though all of the odds were stacked against him, Wimpy continued and continues to thrive! I am so proud of this little dude. He is a fighter for sure. 💜 Our annual holiday/end of the year card drive is happening right now. My favorite tradition! Wimpy is excited to receive your letters, artwork, cards and more! If you include any donation amount in the envelope (one penny, five dollars, a million dollars), you will receive some goodies from our rescued animals in return. 🐌 📬 RANCHO RELAXO PO BOX 258 WOODSTOWN NJ 08098 🫂 #animalrescue #rescued #animallovers #farmsanctuary
As most of you know, back in September, we rescued a pregnant pig from a neglect situation who ended up giving birth to her babies prematurely. It was one of the most stressful rescues we have ever done. Wimpy is one of those babies. Right from the start, he showed signs of failure to thrive and ended up coming down with a debilitating respiratory infection. We got him on a nebulizer as a last ditch effort to save his life. Combining this method with his will to live … he made it through. During the time that he was at his worst, he spiked a high fever — which eventually led to full body hair loss (also known as telogen defluxion). Thankfully, this little dude is pushing forward. His hair is growing back, he has regained almost all of his strength and he is used to his routine of visiting with his mom and brothers a few times per day. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts! I will give you a full update of the whole family soon! Before I go, I want to thank everyone who participated in Giving Tuesday for the animals. We reached our goal and could not be more grateful. Without your love and support, we couldn’t help animals in need like Wimpy. 💜🫂😭 #animalrescue #animallovers #farmsanctuary #rescued
I don’t even know where to begin with this caption but wherever it leads, please continue reading. I know I mentioned how exhausted @hispees and I have been due to a critical intake that recently took place — but I haven’t gone into detail. A couple of weeks ago, we took in a pregnant pig, only while Daniel (team member) and I were on our way to pick her up, she gave birth. She gave birth to 10 babies. We safely transported her and her newborns to our sanctuary and got them properly setup in a low stress environment — an isolated quiet barn, cozy bedding, warmth, an area for the babies to rest, etc. The piglets seemed extremely small for their breed but they were all very active and nursing! We were worried that the stress of her rescue made her give birth prematurely. At this point, this is not just a theory. It is fact. We called our vet out immediately and the babies were given iron and antibiotics. Within the first week, 7 babies passed away. A couple from mom not understanding her size (we ended up putting a playpen in the stall for unsupervised time), a few others from failure to thrive, one from aspiration pneumonia. The trauma that comes along with losing this many babies at once is beyond any weight @hispees or myself could handle. I actually broke down on stage while speaking at the @cpcatconvention because we had lost a baby that very morning. We can’t just take a few days off in this field though. The show must go on. So many lives depend on our dedication to giving them everything they need to feel safe and loved — even when we are feeling low. This mother pig is so young. She also is completely malnourished. Watching her mourn her babies, not understanding … this has been the hardest part for me personally. I can’t wait to introduce you all to her. But first, here is Wimpy fighting like the little champion that he is. Just before this video, he was weak, floppy and having a hard time breathing. In a last ditch effort to get the antibiotics to penetrate deeper and to open his airways, after talking to two of our vets, we ran inside and got my nebulizer that I use for my asthma. And it worked. It actually worked. I promise, more on this rescue case soon. 😭
I think my favorite part of his video is Len saying, “He’s not ready yet.” About Wimpy boy. 😆🤣😭 Mamma Marla and her three baby boys (Wimpy, Topsy and Tube Sock) are doing really well. They are all getting stronger with each day that comes. As most of you know, we rescued Mamma Marla from a terrible neglect/inbreeding case. She was on her way to us pregnant, so very young, malnourished … and gave birth within 24 hours of her being saved. All of the babies were premature. This rescue was one of the most emotional we have done in over a decade of doing this life-saving work. Some of the babies passed away within the first couple of days, Wimpy was placed on a nebulizer and given antibiotics for pneumonia, Topsy and Tube Sock were also treated by our vet due to high fevers. We still monitor them very carefully but I can finally say they are thriving and growing. I wanted to share their very first strawberry tasting party with you all!!! I don’t think Mamma Marla has ever been given fruit in her entire life before this — and I know the babies definitely haven’t. Enjoy. ❤️ 🍓 #animalrescue #farmsanctuary #animallovers THANK YOU ALL FOR SUPPORTING OUR MISSION FOR THE ANIMALS!!!!!

Franny, Buttercup, Bubbles and Blossom will live out their lives together as a family because of the life-saving work you all allow us to do through your support and generosity. 💜 Giving Tuesday, often described as a global day of giving or a global generosity movement, is held each year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. So many nonprofits rely on this day to bring in funding for different operating expenses, necessary projects that don’t fit in the day to day budget and so much more. Today, we have a $1,000 match, $5,000 match and $10,000 match from three different AMAZING donors. Today, if we raise $16,000, it actually becomes $32,000. 😭💜 Running a farmed animal sanctuary is beyond expensive. Our feed bill reaches well over $20,000 per month if you include hay. Please consider making a tax deductible donation today! Help us reach all three matches. A small bale of hay is around $10. A large round bale is around $100. A bag of feed is around $25. A gallon of gas is around $3. A bag of beet treats is around $30. A bale of straw is around $6. Thank you all for being here. Let’s make today a successful one for the rescued animals here at the sanctuary!!!!!!! Replying to @Diana Lynn Spooky season is all year round when you work in animal rescue — because I cannot even begin to describe the horrors that we see. When we received the email about Gregory, we knew we wanted to help but we wanted to be sure that this actually required intervention. At the point of us getting involved, Gregory had been alone, chained up, for a year. He had escaped to find companionship and food numerous times. Whenever he did escape, the police would drag him right back to his post to continue living in isolated sadness. PETA was also called months before we arrived but nothing came of it. Once we arrived on the property, we witnessed a pot with a centimeter of brown water, no shelter and a deeply embedded halter which smelled of infection. We are grateful that his “owner” chose to release him into sanctuary because the authorities were doing NOTHING for this animal. This just goes to show you that farmed animals especially don’t have enough laws protecting them. We loaded Gregory up on our trailer and brought him to sanctuary. On his walk to his medical stall, he saw the very first equine in over a year — and it just so happened to be Virgil, our rescued draft mule! I don’t know what they said to each other because I don’t speak their language but Virgil’s beat sounded welcoming and Gregory’s beat sounded blissfully confused. Don’t worry, little buddy. Everything will be OK from this point on. 😭🫂 A special thank you to @thismustanglife and @chelseahalat for getting the ball rolling on this. Thank you to @therileyfarmrescue, @bluemontequinesanctuary and @goatsofanarchy for assisting. And thank you to everyone who donated or simply shared the first post about Gregory. We actually have a $1,000 donation match toward Gregory’s general care (feed, hay, bedding, etc.) outside of all the vetting, surgery and medication he needs. Rancho Relaco is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that runs solely on the donations of generous folks like yourselves. We LITERALLY couldn’t do this without you. Look at these two baby elephants. 🐘 Cutest. I am so proud of how far this whole family has come (mom and three babies). Formal introduction to come — I promise. I am especially proud of Wimpy, as we almost lost him two weeks ago due to pneumonia. In a last ditch effort to clear his airways and allow the antibiotic to penetrate deeper, we used my personal nebulizer and solution that I use every night for my asthma. It worked. It really worked. He is still fighting and pushing forward. He is not completely out of the woods but he is 100x better than he was two Fridays ago. Thank you all for rooting for him and his family. It means so much to all of us. Please enjoy this video of Wimpy and Tube Sock eating solid food for the first time (moist grain supplement and soaked animal crackers). ☺️🩷 #animalrescue #farmsanctuary #animallovers
Replying to @Chrash_Panda I am sorry about all of the Wimpy content (it’s taking over) — but the people want what they want. Wimpy is a free elf. 💜 As a matter of fact, all of the animals here at Rancho Relaxo have been rescued from terrible fates and live out their lives peacefully and freely. We work hard every single day to keep them happy and safe. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization for animals in need and we are so happy to have you here, following along. #farmsanctuary #animallovers #animalrescue #fortheanimals #dobbyisafreeelf
Although he is not completely out of the woods, Wimpy’s lungs have cleared up significantly. This particular case has been such an emotional rollercoaster — so thank you all for the love and support that has been shown toward Wimpy and the rest of his family. I can’t wait to formally introduce you to mom and siblings, which I will do soon. I promise. We have been so busy lately with farm chores and another ongoing case. @hispees and I are exhausted. I wanted to jump on and give you an update on Wimpy at least! Stay tuned for more updates. Love you all. #animalrescue #farmsanctuary #animallovers 🫶
I wanted to share this video of some time spent with Gregory in-between farm chores today. This boy is just the sweetest. He seems so grateful to be safe. Donkeys are so intelligent. 😭💜 #animalrescue #farmsanctuary #rescued #donkey #animallovers
Gregory update!!!!! 🩷💙💜 As most of you know, we rescued this sweet boy a month ago. We were contacted by a concerned neighbor about a lonely donkey who had no shelter, food, water and escaped constantly trying to find companionship. We were told that he cried morning and night, every single day. When we drove out to the property to check out the situation, it was a bit worse than we expected. All of the above were true — but he also had a halter DEEPLY embedded in his skin which caused an infection on top of severe pain. It was almost as if they put one halter on him and as he grew, it cut into his skin more and more. Devastating. Thankfully, after @thismustanglife held a few compassionate and educational conversations with his previous “owner” … we got the green light for Gregory to come under our care here at Rancho Relaxo. He is still settling in, even after four weeks of being here. He loves being around the other animals but most of all, he loves being around humans. He cried whenever we leave his recovery stall. Can you imagine being neglected to the extent that he was and being so forgiving once it was all over? Animals are incredible. We don’t deserve them. Eventually, we will try to integrate Gregory into our mini horse pasture but he still has some healing to do. Thank you all for rooting for him and showing love and support toward our mission. Rancho Relaxo is a 501c3 nonprofit. We rely solely on donations from generous hearts across the world. We genuinely couldn’t continue without all of you. Thank you. We are down $350+ in monthly donations since the 1st of the month. Please click the link in bio to help recover this loss. 🫂 #animalrescue #rescued #animallovers #farmsanctuary
Hubbard was rescued from slaughter a handful of years ago. He was disposed of by his previous humans due to him losing his eyesight. He has found peace finally — here in sanctuary at Rancho Relaxo. He has also found friendship, love, proper care and nutrition. I absolutely love the fact that he feels safe enough to sleep deeply enough to dream. 😭😭😭 Thank you all for being on this life-saving journey with us! Shoutout to Melissa for catching the first video clip of Hubbard dreaming. I cried watching it, so I HAD to share with all of you. #animalrescue #animallovers #farmsanctuary #horses
This has been an ongoing rescue mission over the last few weeks. Apparently, this donkey has been breaking loose consistently, searching for food and companionship — as he is not gelded and chained up 24/7. He also cries all day long according to neighbors. Once we got the email about this poor soul, we reached out to our colleagues and formulated a plan. @thismustanglife made contact with the “owner” and shortly after, @hispees and I went out to the location to investigate further. This donkey is battling a severe infection due to the embedded halter in his skin. I have never seen such a lonely soul in my life. We need your help to provide him with sanctuary for the rest of his life. As most of you know, Rancho Relaxo is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and we solely run on donations from all of you. Without donations, we cannot help animals. He will need extensive medical treatments for the infection and he will need surgery for the halter and to be gelded. Please help if you are able to. Every year, we try our absolute best to save a turkey or two from the horrors of holiday tradition. We are beyond grateful that this year, we managed to bring four beautiful girls to sanctuary to allow them to live out their lives in peace. I witnessed some horrifying scenes last night and I am completely unsettled today due to them but I am trying so hard to focus on the secured safety of these four! Please consider a new cruelty free tradition going forward. Turkeys are genuinely one of the most amazing animals on the planet. Please consider making a tax deductible donation toward our newest rescued residents! Info in my bio. As always.
A few of you have been asking how Moose is doing — and if him and Simon are still besties. He’s doing great … and yes they are. Moose, born with wry nose, was rescued from slaughter by someone who ended up betraying him. This is how he ended up with us. Simon was just a baby, on his way to slaughter, when we intercepted and saved his life. These two boys met here in sanctuary and immediately became best friends. They remind me of the movie Step Brothers. 🫶 I wanted to share some of these video clips with you because I thought they were so beautiful. #animalrescue #animallovers #farmsanctuary #horses
As most of you know, Wimpy has been spending a lot of time in the house — as he lost all of his hair due to a severely high fever (telogen effluvium). He is 1/3 of the size of his brothers, Topsy and Tube Sock, and just needs a little bit more intensive care in order to thrive. The cold temperatures would not do him any favors in his recovery. He still visits with his mother, Marla, and siblings daily! Today, I picked him up his very own heatable stuffed animal. We have bought these in the past for rescued orphan babes of all different species. They love them! 😭💜 #animalrescue #animallovers #farmsanctuary #rescued
